An Everyday Guide to Longevity

What is EMSR?

EMSR is about all things longevity: staying healthy and vital as you age. The goal is to increase healthspan, the number of years we enjoy good health as we get older, rather than just lifespan, the number of years we’re alive. Getting older is inevitable, aging is a matter of choice.

Who is this for?

This site is for anyone interesting in healthy aging: how to slow down the aging process, improve health, and feel better in the process. People in their 50s and 60s will be most interested, but it’s never too early to start and it’s never too late. Aging isn’t normal, it’s just common.

Who is Brian Cornelson?

Thanks for asking! I’m a 73 year old parttime family physician, right in the thick of getting older and tackling it head on with most of the ideas covered in this website.

Track record: I’ve worked in northwestern Ontario, Winnipeg, Toronto, Calgary and now Victoria, Canada, and in Nepal, China and Ethiopia. (I know, it looks like I can’t keep a steady job!) I’ve had teaching positions with the Universities of Toronto, Manitoba, Calgary and British Columbia and with Capital Medical University in Beijing, China and Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. I’ve worked with First Nations communities, prisoners, immigrants and refugees, LGBTQ patients, and people with mental health and addictions problems.

I’m more interested in helping people to stay healthy and prevent illness rather than treating it. I believe that we can only be truly healthy if we take charge of our own health, and I believe that the key to health is how we live our lives. I’m committed to making it easier for people to live healthy.
